Immersed Books
Following the previous project, I completed another project in the same course, which followed the theme of unique housing situations. I was tasked with creating a work environment located in downtown Knoxville. The space consisted of two floors- the first floor being a commercial space of my choosing and the second floor being a residential space to house the workers. On the first floor, I decided to create a bookstore with a coffee shop in it. I wanted to create a space people would feel drawn to. Everyone has a happy place where they feel the most productive and where they lose track of time. Paired with a coffee shop, the bookstore is meant to embrace that thought. With walls made of bookshelves and drop-down ceilings in the seating area, an environment is created that allows you to become consumed. A work-life environment is a space that provides housing within their place of employment and has shown to be very beneficial. This space includes multiple communal and secluded private areas for the three people living there
